Call for Singers, Rehearsal starts September, 4, 2018.

Call for singers. We are preparing for Brahms German Requiem. Starting rehearsals Tuesday evenings, September 4, 2018. Call time 7:15 pm - 9:00 pm.

Rehearsal Location: Birmingham Unitarian Church, 38651 Woodward Avenue, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304

Membership fee is $65. Students $35. HS Students, $25.

Start with us on September 4th, 11th, 18th or 25th. We are a non-audition choir and accept singers each Spring and Fall for our two concerts.

Dr John Nicholas Dovaras

Dr. John Dovaras was the conductor of the predecessor choir, the Oakland University Community Chorus. He is fondly remembered by several of the current, active members of the Oakland Choral Society. He will be missed by many and remembered in our concert performances.

Thanks to Anita for the note and the reference to the Obituary. Dr. John Nicholas Dovaras, November 22, 1933 - April 24, 2018, Born in Brockton, MA, Resided in Michigan.

The mission of the Oakland Choral Society is to provide educational enrichment for Oakland County and Metropolitan Detroit communities; to expand and enhance cultural experiences through dedication to the highest possible musical performance standards by presentation of significant classical and contemporary choral works; and to expose the listener to the finest choral literature in order to foster an appreciation of composers and singing.

Fall 2017 Baroque Around The World

The Fall 2017 program featured works from around the world, seven countries and five languages. We had a great time with this concert and people were quite pleased. 

It seems that our followers like the Baroque period and the program contained pieces that are seldom performed. See the program at this link.

Spring 2018 Rehearsals

Hello All,

We are starting rehearsals for the 2018 Spring concert on January 9, 2018 at 7:30 pm. 

Registration prior to our rehearsal, so if you can, come as early as 7:00 pm to register. Please let your section leader if you need the music score, so I can order enough copies.
